January 2013 Drupal Meetup

January meeting. Bring an interesting site, technical problem (that you've overcome or that you're still wrestling with), or general question.

Rick Nashleanas (along with the Monarch team) will present a case study of going from nowhere to production within 1 month for the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Perhaps we can coerce Caleb Thorne to talk about and do demos on his series of blog posts on update hooks.

December meeting. Many thanks to Winn Jewett and his team for their great series of presentations on tips and techniques they have used on some of their recent interesting projects.

Thunder and Buttons. If you'd like a little more one-on-one time, come to Thunder and Buttons at 5:30 or so and we'll have some dinner and beer.

Thanks a bunch for all the insight and various perspectives of tackling problems when site building. This group has an excellent mix of participants that help me to build confidence in the Drupal community. Thanks again to the organizers Rick and Caleb for making this happen every month! Til next time.

For me an eye opener -- A different way to think about computing, no information sharing.

Actually got a question for tonight if you guys have time to discuss. Do you have any preferred methods for Content Staging? I know that Drupal 8 has a slated solution in the works, but I wonder what you'd use for Drupal 6/7.

I'm looking at ideal functionality for syncing content between staging and production, especially in sites where DB dumps are not ideal due to frequently added nodes.

Mainly, it would be useful to be able to pull down a copy of production content to a dev/staging environment so that I can do development work with live content, without having to overwrite existing configuations on the dev version.

    Saw some comparisons here:

I'm wondering if Node_Export w/ Drush is the current and most robust option?

Won't be able to come after all, but did want to say I've been using Vagrant/Puppet a lot recently and making great use of Caleb's samples on BitBucket. Incredibly useful tools, especially since I work on all manner of OS, from Ubuntu, to XP, and OS/X - a streamlined virtualization tool is a godsend.

Have you ever used Pantheon for hosting? We're just starting a development project using this hosting platform.
