BUTTERFLY SURVEY AT THE MERRITT ISLAND NWR

The next FBMN Butterfly Biodiversity Survey is on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at 9:00 AM, meet at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitors' Center. Anyone interested is welcome, refreshments will be served.
Participants will view a presentation on butterflies of the National Butterfly Center in MissionTexas and then assist refuge staff and volunteers to survey butterflies in a variety of habitats. The data is collected for the Florida Butterfly Monitoring Network Project of the University of Florida. No butterfly identification experience is necessary, you will be part of a team made up of an experienced butterfly identifier, a recorder and some number of observers who
will walk a fixed path noting and recording all butterflies seen and the plants they are utilizing. Bring insect/sun protection, drinking water and wear closed hiking boots or shoes, long pants is recommended.
