I took three years of Spanish in high school, and two semesters at UCSD when I was in grad school three years ago. I can read it fairly well, but quickly get tongue-tied in conversation. I'd love to use it more, as a job skill and for traveling, but I find that there's only so much I can learn by myself from books and podcasts.
I think living in a Spanish-speaking country would be the best way to acquire the language, but since I can't do that, normal, social activities like movies, wine nights, hikes, dinners, etc. that just happen to be in Spanish are the next best thing.
Not yet, but once I meet some people and start feeling comfortable and connected, I do like to be a party-planner and hostess. =)
I took a lot of Spanish in high school and later in grad school, but I don't have much real life experience with the language. I'm hoping this group can help me get some.
