Here are frequently asked questions about our group.

I am a new member, I do not know what to expect, are all group activities in Spanish only?
No, we encourage members to use their Spanish at every opportunity possible, but not all members are fluent in Spanish, so, both English and Spanish are used during our events. Every attempt is made to make the intermediate/advanced classes/meetup Spanish only.

I am an advance or native speaker and want an opportunity to speak only Spanish, do you offer that?
But of course, our regular monthly meetup is geared toward speaking only Spanish.
Native Spanish speakers are a vital part of our meetup much so that the meetup charge is waived for native speakers (and volunteer instructors too). Please come and join our classes and events

Is this group only for the intermediate/advanced/native Spanish speaker?
While at the moment we only have advanced and intermediate classes our events are open to people of all fluency levels. You will be able to interact with a wide range of members of different levels.

When does the group meet?
At the moment we have Intermediate/Advanced Spanish Language Lessons every Tuesday from 7PM to 9 PM in South Tampa. Please join to get the current location and remember you will need to RSVP if you are coming.

Are members required to attend all meetups?
No, there is no requirement for members to attend all meetups. Typically, members pick and choose what works best for them. However, you are expected to attend at least one event every 6 months.

Are all your meetups in Tampa?

Currently our "lesson days" are all in South Tampa and our Spanish movie and game nights are in the Town N Country area. Other events may be scattered around the greater Tampa Bay area.

Where are your members from?
Our group is multi-cultural, we have members from many different backgrounds.

Where do members live?
Our members are from the greater Tampa Bay area.

How do I pay the membership fee?
First join us using than go to the left hand side of the screen and click on membership fees or bring your dues to the meeting.

Do you charge event fees?
Normally, we do not charge event fees. That is why we collect the annual membership fee. However, we may need to if there are expenses related to the event.

How are the Spanish Classes organized?
Classes normally consist of one hour of Spanish conversation and one hour of textbook exercises and sometimes 2 hours of Spanish only conversation.

Will I need to purchase a textbook?
Yes, if you are planning on attending the classes you will need to purchase a textbook. The textbooks are less than $14 and are available online through and other vendors. We provide the textbook name and links to where to purchase it for every class.

I haven't attended in awhile and want to attend class, where will I find this weeks homework and assignments?
Someone will post this weeks assignment in the comment section of the meetup event. The assignment is often in two parts. One part will list this weeks conversation topic for those of us who need to prepare and study up before the meeting. Another comment will provide information on what we are studying (for example "future tenses") and will provide the textbook chapter and page number.
