The Book’s jacket promotion goes like this:
Weaving a brilliant latticework of family legend, loss, and love, Téa Obreht, the youngest of The New Yorker’s twenty best American fiction writers under forty, has spun a timeless novel that will establish her as one of the most vibrant, original authors of her generation.
In a Balkan country mending from years of conflict, Natalia, a young doctor, arrives on a mission of mercy at an orphanage by the sea. By the time she and her lifelong friend Zóra begin to inoculate the children there, she feels age-old superstitions and secrets gathering everywhere around her. Secrets her outwardly cheerful hosts have chosen not to tell her. Secrets involving the strange family digging for something in the surrounding vineyards. Secrets hidden in the landscape itself.
But the most extraordinary story of all is the one her grandfather never told her, the one Natalia must discover for herself.

Club News:
Thank you Tiffany for the great ideas and input and help. Thank you Book Club Members new and old.
Welcome!
You will get a message from time to time from our activity director ‘Tiffany’. She will be making changes we will all really really love.
We really like the coffee house AND stronger beverage idea. We never seem to drink that much coffee on meeting night anyway!
The location published here in 2011 may have changed, be sure to double check!
Also notice the change to second Wednesday instead of second Monday (or even other days as Tiffany is able to locate special locations and venues). I think maybe this will help more attend as the weekend activities, to-do-list hangovers may be better, and Mondays have just gotten so darn busy!
Location:
Barnes & Noble at Central & NW Hwy
Coffee Shop/Starbucks area (unless it was too crowded, then look around the store)

If you didn’t read the book don’t worry, it’s not required. Come on around anyway & see what we thought about it, you’ll be glad you came!
Remember to look for the copy of "Are You My Mother?" by Dr. Seuss on our table! AND if you are first to arrive feel free to borrow a copy off the book store shelf and grab us a table, we are a relaxed group and anyone can get things started.
