The Cabaret Populaire/Culture Rapide is on the corner with rue Julien Lacroix. There is a huge art piece high up on the building wall, with the slogan "Il faut se méfier des mots."
The atmosphere is very supportive of anyone having a go.

Everyone gets 5 minutes, no longer.
Usually we do 2 halves and you can sign up again for the second half.
The bar is the home of slam poetry in Paris. Their team won the French national slam competition 2009, and one member, a regular at SpokenWord, came second in the individual competition. He won it the 2 previous years. They also serve excellent savoury & sweet pancakes.
