All-Star Panel: “The Evolution of Sports Media”

  • Nov 27, 2012 · 6:00 PM

Join us November 27th at 6pm as the Sports and Tech Meetup presents an all-star panel discussing: “The Evolution of Sports Media.” Our panel of entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and journalists will discuss how technology and the natural disruption of markets are fundamentally changing how sports are presented and covered. Our panel will weigh in on how these changes affect a variety of parties from old and new media businesses to fans to leagues to startups and what new big innovations and opportunities lay ahead. Q&A will follow.

Panelists Include:
Pete Vlastelica – Senior VP of Product Strategy at Fox Sports. Former Founder and CEO of Yardbarker (acquired by Fox Sports Interactive).

Christine Anderson – Creative Director, Sportsvision (the company behind the yellow first down line shown on football television and many other leading augmented reality innovations to sports TV).

Carlos Silva – Managing Director, Park Lane (Investment Bank focused on the sports industry). Former President and COO of Universal Sports and Head of AOL Sports.

Katie Baker – Staff Writer at Grantland (ESPN). Past contributor to Deadspin, The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and other leading publications.

Agenda
6:00 – 6:15 Pregame – snacks, drinks, networking (maybe some stretching)
6:15 – 7:05 Game – Panel: “The Evolution of Sports Media” followed by Q&A
7:05 – 8:00 Postgame – networking, drinks, and optional chest bumps!

Folks, as organizer of a supper club on Meetup (feel free to join), I'd like to ask that anyone whose plans change or who changes his or her mind about attending to not blow off your RSVP and please make sure and cancel, as there are 17 people on the waiting list. Please afford those people a chance to attend if you can't make it. They'd do the same for you. Many thanks.

Check our technology to engage retain audiences via SMS/Twitter/Facebook: excitem.com. We did a pilot project with NBC Bay Area and it was very successful. You can see a video of how it works http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpTLFQ2TLYY. Our software allows a station to create a poll and go live on air within 10 seconds (we take care of graphics generation as well). If anyone wants to talk, please email me at [masked]

One of our writers interviewed Thuuz CEO Warren Packard (previous event panelist). Article here - http://www.chatsports.com/sports-tech/a/Thuuz-aims-to-be-the-Pandora-for-sports-on-TV-10-211-43

Hey James, interesting read. You should have a look at Are You Watching This?!. We're extending our lead over Thuuz by taking a different path to world domination...
