Had enough of creationists, astrologers, psychics, homeopaths, and spirit channelers? Yearning to talk with someone rational for awhile? Meetup with other local skeptics for some refreshing and sane conversation!

The Rational Examination Association of Lincoln Land (REALL) is dedicated to the development of rational thinking and the application of the scientific method toward claims of the paranormal and fringe-science phenomena.

REALL conducts research, convenes meetings, publishes a newsletter, and disseminates information to its members and the general public. Its primary geographic region of coverage is central Illinois.

REALL subscribes to the premise that the scientific method is the most reliable and self-correcting system for obtaining knowledge about the world and universe. REALL does not reject paranormal claims on a priori grounds, but rather is committed to objective, though critical, inquiry.

Want to attend?

Come join us as we celebrate the birth of Charles Darwin and the 17th anniversary of the formation of REALL! The meal is free and we'll have some door prizes -- as well as Darwin trivia questions!

This is a great opportunity to introduce others to REALL and skepticism, so feel free to bring a friend or two! Spouses and kids are also welcome; my wife and our 5-year-old son will be there. Read more

What members are saying

This meetup group is a great place to talk about your views on science and critical thinking without the worry of being judged negatively by those present.

Members are well-informed, educated and stimulating conversationalists, and share my preference for science over religion/superstition.

“By temperament, I am a "Rational." I have had to live by my wily "Artisan" side in the workforce, but now I may allow Reason and Logic to prevail.”
