Adopt-A-Street Cleanup

Hey Everyone,

It probably feels like we just cleaned up our lil' freethinking section of road, but we need to get out there again (before it gets too stiflingly hot!) and pick up after all the thoughtless trash-throwing south side Springfieldians. So let's everyone gather together again for a couple hours and help clean up our adopted section of road. The more people who show up and volunteer the faster the job gets done.

As always, coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts will be there to motivate us along.

For those who aren't aware, our group adopted a short 1/8 mile section of Republic Road from James River Freeway to Fremont Avenue. Hopefully you've seen the signs proudly displaying "Springfield Freethinkers" at each end of our section of road. We're obligated to clean it up three times a year and it's an easy way to contribute to the community while gaining some visibility for the Springfield Freethinkers.

Meet in the northeast corner of Seminole Baptist. We'll provide gloves, trash bags and Springfield city release forms. When you fill up a bag, tie it up and leave it at the side of the road. The city will pick those up for us.

Please be on time if you RSVP as we need you to sign the release form before you start.

    Hey all!

What a great bunch of helpful, community-minded heathens you are! Thanks everyone for contributing, being apart of the work crew and making it fun. ♥

I've put several photos of everyone in the associated album, so feel free to tag yourselves.

A special thanks to Jack & Carla for joining up and bring all those helpful kiddies. You all are GREAT!

Hey everyone! We could still use a bunch more help tomorrow cleaning up our adopted portion of street. So come help out, contribute to your city, meet some great like-minded others in our group and I promise we'll have some fun, too.

Hope to see more of us there tomorrow!

    Delia,

The pralines could be placed in my custody until Saturday, just as long as you don't count them before you transfer them to me. I think we all would appreciate a full narrative of the Paula & Sarah show.

Okay guys, I got pralines instead. Not the retail version, but from the kitchen of Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. The challenge will be hanging on to these until Saturday!

Thanks for contributing, Will. Look forward to meeting you.

Delia, I don't care how old the beignets are, I'd probably eat 'em! (Well, okay... probably not.) lol

    Tom,

Delia did finally return my calls. At this time she is not too loose on Toulouse Street. In fact she is still in Springfield. So the beignets and French Market coffee are still a faint possibility. We can only hope.

    Tom,

Don't get your hopes up regarding the beignets and French Market coffee. Delia is not returning my calls. I fear she's already on Bourbon Street.

I have a friend visiting from out of town next weekend, so I won't be able to make it. Don't forget that Pride is also this day in Springfield. The Branson Freethinkers will have a booth there so stop by and say hi if you get a chance.

    I vote for Jim's idea!

I don't care so much for the Krispy Kremes. I was thinking that maybe Delia could bring back some beignets and chicory coffee from Cafe Du Monde.
