Welcome to Square Pegs! Square Pegs is an Asperger's support group for college aged Aspies and up that strives to create an open and accepting atmosphere. Together, we'll learn about the triumphs and tragedies that come with having the disorder.
I'm very excited to announce our new meeting place: Spot Coffee! Spot is located at 200 East Avenue, right in Downtown Rochester. We'll be in the upper room, right past the balcony. The upper room is quiet, as the walls absorb much of the sound from downstairs. For my fellow non-drivers, Spot is right along the #1 and #17 RTS bus routes. Street parking is available on East Avenue, and off-street parking is available on East Main St, by Gibbs St.
This will be our first meetup with our new time and schedule. We will be meeting on the first Thursday of every month at 7 pm and will last until 8:30. My hope is that choosing a quiet and accessible location and maintaining a regular schedule will make it easier for we Aspies to fit Square Pegs into our monthly routines.
Additionally, we will maintain a structured meeting schedule. While I can't speak for all of us, I can say that I do better socializing if I know what is expected of me. Maintaining a meeting schedule will ease the pressures that come with socialization as much as possible. I welcome your suggestions in terms of topics.
Thanks so much for reading! I very much look forward to meeting you all!
Square Pegs is a group dedicated to the Adult with Asperger's Syndrome and is by and for people with Asperger's, or "aspies." We meet once a month to support and encourage one another. Please note that this is not an education group, and all meetings are for people on the spectrum only. People without Asperger's, who would like to learn more about it, may go to Deborah's email address with specific questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
