2D Art tools for Indies overview

There are a wide variety of tools out there that artists use for a wide variety of purposes. Several game developers and hobbiests in the area will talk about one or two of the tools they use, discuss the problem it is meant to solve, give a high level demonstration of the tool, and provide tips to get started quickly.

Some tools that will be demoed are:
Alchemy - Scott Petrovic
Inkscape - Sam Coster
Krita - Scott Petrovic
Pixen - Stephen Hmiel
Spine - Jesse Chounard

If you have a tool you would like to demo or see demoed please reply below!

I have a request! I need to make tilable images. Is there a tool that someone can demo that lets me see what the image I'm editing will look like when it's tiled?

      Krita might do that... :)

In photoshop you can also use the offset filter (filters->other->offset) to move everything so the center is where the edges meet instead. This makes making a tileable image very easy. Then just do the opposite values to set it back. :D Easy peasy

Shi Chen would you like me to invite the guy to the next event from MBSC to the 2d meeting since you cannot make it. Only to be supportive to him? I forgot his name.

That will be nice Leslie. His meet up name is just Robert. You can find him in the attendant list of the microtalk session

I'll be demoing Inkscape and how to make technical art assets using it. If anyone has any other questions about it that can help guide the thing SLAP EM IN HERE.

already mentioned this to you, but i think covering how you save/export vector graphics from Inkscape and use them with Game Maker (besides making the damn things) would be great to know.
also how to setup Inkscape and change hotkeys, etc. to improve your workflow (because the default setup is a bit awkward).
