Sandy Koufax is God Stairhike

Details
Please join your fellow stair climbers as we climb the stairs from Echo Park to Dodger Stadium.
Last season our group did four stairhikes to Dodger Stadium and the LA Dodgers record was 2-2. This year I'm hoping the LA Dodgers will go 0-4 on the days we do a stairhike this season! This stairhike will be canceled, if Kershaw is pitching! ONLY KIDDING!! This will only be canceled, if the best pitcher in baseball, King Felix, is pitching against the best pitcher in the National League, Kershaw, since I'll be at the game!
We aren't going to the game and see a $200 million team lose, just doing the stairs outside Dodger Stadium that lead to the Top Deck and a great view of downtown LA.
Unlike other stadiums where people enter on the same level and take ramps and escalators to their seat levels, at Dodger Stadium their class system of entry means if you can only enter on the level of your ticket. For example, if you have a reserve level ticket, you can only enter on the reserve level. So, all the stairs are outside the stadium and do not require a ticket to access.
Wear the cap of your favorite baseball team, no Yankees, Cubs, Red Sox, LA Dodgers, or Giants caps allowed (just kidding) bring some sunflower seeds, peanuts, and Cracker Jacks and let's do a stairswalk to Dodger Stadium!
2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Sandy Koufax refusing to pitch in the 1965 World Series for the LA dodgers, because it fell on Yom Kippur! Koufax came back on two days rest to pitch in Game 7, after pitching a complete game 4 hit, shutout in Game 5. Of course, Koufax won Game 7, a complete game 3 hit shutout, and the damn LA dodgers won the 1965 World Series.
At the Top Deck we'll take a picture at the #32 display for Sandy Koufax. (What? The new owners are too cheap to build a statue for Koufax?) Did you hear the story about Koufax, at 78 years old, getting hit in the head by a batted ball during spring training last year and he didn' t even get knocked down or out? Legend!!

Meeting Place:
Chango Coffee
1559 Echo Park Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90026
(213) 977-9161
Time: Please arrive at Chango by 6:30pm. Walk will start promptly at 6:45pm. Walk should take about 2 hrs.
Parking: There is free street parking on Echo Park Ave. and other streets near Chango.
Pace- Moderate Pace- we will wait for people at the top of staircases. They are some hills that we will have to climb.
We are walking through the Dodger Stadium parking lot. Please watch out for cars in the parking lot. While the plan is to arrive at Dodger Stadium after most of the notoriously late arriving Dodgers' fans have already arrived, there may still maybe a lot of cars driving in the parking lot.
Click for Route (http://www.mappedometer.com/?maproute=277234)- About 4 miles and 10 staircases-with most of the staircases at Dodger Stadium.
Toughest staircase will be the 192 steps Avalon staircase.
Reminders:
No crashers- Only those who have RSVP'd "YES" are welcomed for this walk. Please do not just show up.
RSVP limits are set, because I don't want a huge group on these walks. So, if you RSVP only for yourself, don't bring a guest.
Please keep your RSVP updated and current. Repeated No Shows may lead to members being removed from the group.
There usually are no restrooms along these walks. Restrooms are usually only available at the starting point of the walks.
Always bring plenty of water.
Always wear running/tennis shoes. Open toed shoes are not a good idea for these stairs walks.
Any questions or concerns please email me, David, at least one day before the event. I do not have a smart phone, so I can't respond to messages & emails left the day of the walk!
