Hybrid hike - Beachwood Canyon (Walk #34) blended with the Hollywood Reservoir

There are no dogs allowed in Hollywood Reservoir. There is no cell phone reception at the meeting place so I won't be able to get any late posted messages from you.

WHAT: This is a vigorous hike through Hollywood history, utilizing some of the steepest and most charming staircases in the city and affording breathtaking views from Downtown to the sea. We take a detour from the urban hike onto the fire road leading into and all the way around (3 miles) the Hollywood Reservoir. Afterwards we will find a nice shade tree complete with logs for a rest area and a tree swing. Views of the Hollywood sign are everywhere on the urban hike and in the Hollywood reservoir.

START TIME: Hike will start promptly at 9:00a.m Please arrive by 8:45am

DIFFICULTY: 4 of 5

STAIRS: on the urban portion of the hike 861 stairs (six stair cases, ranging from 118 steps to 178 steps) 658 up and 203 down

PARKING: is available all along Beachwood Drive.

BATHROOMS; The Village Coffee Shop has restrooms.

BRING: Plenty of water, healthy snacks, sunscreen, hat, wear comfortable shoes, and bring your best smile and a positive attitude!

SAFETY: Narrow streets and no sidewalks on some portions of the hike so I will ask that you follow me in single file at times. When exiting stairways please move to the right or left on the side to allow other hikers to exit. Be mindful of cars and give them ample room to pass. Never loiter in the road. Texting while climbing stairs or walking in these narrow streets can lead to accidents so please refrain.
