Santa Monica Rustic Canyon

DESCRIPTION: This is an athletic walk up the southern side of Santa Monica Canyon and back down into bucolic Rustic Canyon, through leafy eucalyptus-scented glades and past historic homes and architectural wonders. Along the way are hard bodies and ocean views. The 1,069 stairs include the famous 4th St steps (189 very steep steps). Please no dogs on this hike. There will be another hike In Pacific Palisades following this one if you are up for it.

PARKING: Please allow extra time to find parking. It could prove challenging. PCH heading north turn right on Entrada. If there is no parking available on Entrada, turn right on Ocean Way and park or continue on to Mabery Rd to park. PCH heading south turn left onto W. Channel Rd. and take the first right to Short St. then proceed to Entrada. This is a residential neighborhood. You may possibly have a little bit of a walk to the meeting point.

BATHROOMS: The Chevron gas station has a public restroom.

BRING: strong legs for hiking 1,069 stairs, good hiking shoes, water and fun spirit and hefty smile!

SAFETY: Always follow your leaders instructions as we are looking out for your safety. Walk on sidewalks when available not streets, unless otherwise instructed. No texting while hiking or climbing stairs especially. No dogs. Single file on stairs especially the 4th St stairs as these are busy with runners going up and down.
