Franklin Hills Fusion (fusing two hikes to welcome in the New Year!)

WHAT: I'm fusing two hikes - THIS IS A BUTT KICKER. The Franklin Hills East and West. Its a demanding hike with lots of stairs and lots of elevation change. Beautiful views of the city and of Griffith Park at night. We'll be walking through the hills separating East Hollywood from West Silverlake, including some of the best hidden staircases. Please make sure you are ready to tackle over 1,300 stairs.

STAIRS: 1,340 stairs (15 staircases -a mixture of up and down)

START TIME: 5:15PM

DISTANCE: 4.0 MILES

PARKING: Parking on Hoover St. across from Valvoline Oil and also behind the McDonalds on Sunset Blvd.

BATHROOMS: McDonald's on Sunset Blvd. has a bathroom for customers. Please allow time to cross the intersections to get to meeting place.

BRING: Flash light, head lamp is a must (the more lights we have the more visible we are to traffic) water, hiking shoes. The Udell stairway is completely dark and has low overhanging branches so a light is recommended for your safety. A positive attitude.

SAFETY: Please bring a flash light or head lamp, no texting when hiking or climbing stairs as sidewalks can have elevated sections that are difficult to see at night, walk on sidewalks when they are available, walk close to the curb when walking on streets. You are responsible for your own safety - make good choices :-)
