Supermoon Eclipse Hike

Details

Start Time: Try to arrive by 5:30pm, the hike will start at 5:40pm. There is plenty of parking available at the Nature Center parking lot. There are no restrooms, so make sure to use one before arriving.

Description: For the first time since 1982, there will be a Supermoon Eclipse (http://earthsky.org/?p=51212) on September 27th. The eclipse will start just after 7:00pm and the moon will be at its fullest at about 7:51pm. This hike will be on trails, mostly wide fire roads, at the Vedurgo Mountains. These trails offer some great views of the city and should offer a great view of the eclipse. The hike will be over 5 miles, with an elevation gain of over 900 feet, and it should end in 3 hours. The pace will be moderate and we will stay together as a group. The goal will be to reach the view point by 7:30pm and wait for the total eclipse. You are welcomed to bring snacks/drinks to enjoy while waiting for the eclipse. It will get dark so make sure to bring a flash light. It will be a loop hike, it will end at the starting location.
