Thanks for the info....I've never heard of meetin.org
before; I'll create a group there too.
In the past, I've used Yahoo Groups (still do, actually) and a couple other social listservs, but it seems to me that meetup definitely helps people meet up who otherwise wouldn't....heck, that's how I found all of you. :-)
I would hate to give up this group for want of a mere few dollars per year (per person) and then miss meeting some great people in the future. It does seem obscene to me that meetup.com
charges $12/month (or more) per meetup group; they have about 40,000 meetup groups, so that means their base revenue is at least $480,000/month. As I said, obscene.
But since a boycott won't necessarily in the long run help us accomplish our goals of improving our German and having fun while doing it, I'd still like to see if we can save this group (in addition to growing it via other venues such as meetin.org
