Modern American acting all draws back to a single core- the Stanislavski system. Thing is, most actors study parts of the system, and seldom the whole. This group exists to talk and work Stanislavski, and give any actor a clearer understanding of how the work of the master effects the work of any actor, director, or teacher.
The discussion is led by Tim Hillman, a Stanislavski disciple whose work as an acting educator includes the direction of more than 100 plays, in addition to long experience acting as an advisor, director, and teacher to many working actors, producers, agents, and industry professionals.
The list of Tim's former students and peers includes Sara Gilbert, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Conan O'Brien, Vanessa Marshall, Lisa Capps (Les Miserables, Broadway) and many more. He's arrived back in LA after a 20 year absence to bring back insight gained from a 30 year life as an acting educator.
Every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30, we meet at ArtRebel Studio at 14321 Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks.
Each week, we'll break down a part of Stanilavski's system and discuss how it fits into you existing structure of acting, producing, directing- whatever your pleasure. Bring a script to break down, a play to look at at- we're here to solve problems in acting together.
Expect stage time, improvisation, and just enough about the system to keep your brain percolating for a week.
