Announcing a new Meetup for Staten Island Boardgamers!

What: 6/6/10 Sunday OUTDOORS Boardgaming @ GREEK FESTIVAL Staten Island, NY

When: Sunday, June 6,[masked]:00 PM

Yearly dues: $5.00 per person

Pizza D'Oro
3115 Victory Blvd #1 corner Victory Blvd/Richmond Avenue
Staten Island, NY 10314
718 [masked]

They say beware of Greeks bearing gifts, they don't say anything about GAMES....

We will try something different today.... We will meet at the Greek Festival/Flea Market.
Holy Trinity/St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox church. 1641 Richmond Ave. (This is, essentially, across the street from Pizza D'Oro.) Parking will be difficult, at best, so plan on either arriving early, or taking mass transit.

Be advised: In the past, there has been an admission fee to enter the Greek Festival. I do not believe it is more than $1 or $2 per person.

How to find us at the Festival: LOOK around for folks with Boardgames on the tables. If possible, I will try to have a sign. If there is a "shade" option (under the tent), I will attempt to get a table there. If that is not possible, then we'll be in the sun.

They say that if it rains it will move to the gymnasium. I do not know if this is only the flea market vendors, or tables for eating, and in our case, eating AND gaming. However, if it rains, we can always retreat to Pizza D'Oro. Members present will decide on the spot.

The Festival closes at 6pm. At that time, we will decide, again as a group, if we want to game longer, and walk to Pizza D'Oro to play until 9pm (understand, we will need to buy food/drink there), or end the session at 6pm.

Greek Orthodox Flea Market
Parishioners of Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church met yesterday to plan the second annual outdoor Flea Market/Gyro Fest and the annual Muscle Car and Bike Show, sponsored by S.I. Custom Performance. The Flea Market/Gyro Fest will be held Sat., June 5 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sun., June 6, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., with traditional Greek specialty foods and pastries. There is no rain date; if it rains, the event will move to the gymnasium. The Muscle Car and Bike Show will be Sat., June 5 from 4 to 9 p.m. Rain date is Sun., June 6 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Here is how it works:

You bring game(s) that you would like to play.

I bring game(s) that I would like to play.

People divide up and choose games to play, based on interest, and number of people a game can play.

Repeat until there are no more games/gamers/time at the venue! LOL

It really IS that simple.

Beginners are welcome. We will teach you games you may not know, don't worry. We also hope you teach US some of your favorite games as well!

What to bring:
1) reading glasses, as many of the games have small print, or directions on the boards or cards.
2) Bring cash as well. Pizza D'Oro and the Greek Flea Market do not take credit cards. CASH only.
3) It is a good idea (but not mandatory) to bring games good for 1, 2, 3, 4, and /or 4+ players, so you can be the most flexible when selecting games to play. (Organizer tip: I have a book to read, if I get stuck without a game, or I'll just watch the game being played.)
4) You might want to bring sunscreen and a hat!

There is no gambling permitted, including poker.

Essentially, this is a meet up groups for adults and mature teen-agers. Please invite accordingly. (Thanks!)

Please keep in mind that while we *do* want you to purchase food and drink, we do *not* want purchased food and drinks on the board and card games. Please make certain your gaming area is clean of all spills, food, and debris, and please make use of the napkins before handling game components. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Parking is available in the CVS/Coral Lane Parking lot. And both local and express busses stop in front of the venue.

Finally, please try to RSVP. It really helps with "the bookkeeping" ... thanks in advance!
