Geeks Who Craft
Details
There is nothing in this world as cathartic, peaceful, and meditative as sitting down at some evening craft. It doesn't have to be beatiful, or amazing, or perfect. No grand ambitions. No mandated opus. It is just a pleasure to create. To knit, or sew, or widdle. To paint, or carve, or distill.
So. Come. Join us. Sit and be amazed at what happens when friends, food, and crafts come together. (There is a subtle hint here that you should also bring some tasty victurals or nectar.)
This event is named after the event that motivated me to start a Makerspace. Many many months ago (November 2013), a delightful lady named Andrea Nichols, famed creator of the wildly popular meetup group called "Geeks of the Shenandoah Valley" hosted an event called "Geeks that Craft". There I met a number of excellent friendly people, doing amazing things. There, before me were these fun inventive geeks. And these gentle folk were creating chain mail, wooden puzzles, stuffed animals, studded biker jackets, and modular origami. What is this!?!?! I declared. My goodness. I've never been so comfortable around a group of strangers! There should be a place where this can happen all the time!
So it is my fervent hope, that you will come one thursday evening, with your crazy ideas, needles, knives, pliers, and computers, and join me in the pleasure of building, creating, and socializing with friends.
Your fellow maker,
Dan
