By popular demand, Glenn Henriksen will be presenting an introduction to git! In his own words:

Git is a powerful tool for version control, but with a bunch of concepts that are foreign to many and the initial learning curve can be steep. We'll do a basic intro to Git, how it works, why it works the way it does and some suggestions on how you should use it. No previous experience with source control is required, we'll take it from the very top!

There's likely to be a big turn-out for this (maybe 50 people), so we're still trying to figure out where to hold it. We'd like to find some place in the sentrum, but we may end up in Forus. If anybody has suggestions for a big, ideally free space near downtown Stavanger that can hold that many people, let me know.

Also, there will be a GeekBeer meetup after the presentation:

Please RSVP for this separately if you plan to attend.

After the talk, someone asked about running a Git server on Windows. Here's a new Git server for Windows that looks interesting:

Still working on that. This is supposed to be a joint meeting with NNUG, in which case it may be too large for the Irishman. If it grows too large, or if it's just easier to hold it elsewhere, it'll probably end up at an office in Forus. I'm trying to get this sorted ASAP.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
