Unique Social Event for Aspies

The first meetup for Steps Outta Line. You wont find normal social expectations here. This is a unique meetup for Aspies, where you can socialise however you feel comfortable. Please read the About us... section ( <- on the left hand panel) to find out what we're on about.

Information for the Meetup:

• Bring something to BBQ or some Lunch. There are takeaway shops just around the corner if you want to buy something.
• I'll be tying red balloons at my table so you may know where I'm at if you want to come over.
• Large sheltered seating, just in case it's a rainy day.
• Bring a book, a camera, a drawing pad, or whatever you feel like doing there.
  *Locale has beautiful lakeside walks and views and very cool playground facilities.

I'm new to this meetup thing. So please, give me any suggestions you want for this or future meetups.

Message from the Organiser:
Oh, I understand. Trust me. How much I was plagued by others to socialise as I was growing up. It really bugged me. I remember running out of church bawling my eyes out because I felt like everyone was starring at me. I have seen other Aspies so overwhelmed in a social setting that unwanted tears stream down their face.

I understand how hard it can be to socialise. But I have also come to understand how important it is to socialise. Could it be that it was difficult for us to socialise because of the standards and expectations others have of us? I mean, do we really need to talk to socialise? Do we really need to shake hands? Or even look at each other? Or be sitting close to each other?

See where I'm coming from? I want to provide a relaxed and nurturing environment for Aspies to socialise how we want. No expectations. No commitments. The one thing that you I promise you, is simply this: I'll be there on the meetup days. Where that leads... who knows? But knowing it's us Aspies getting together, I'm sure it'll be fun just having each other around. Plus, the meetup locales are beautiful. If anything, at least it'll give you a chance to get outside smiles
