R Hackathon 2015

We are happy to announce that - on Saturday, May 16 - the Stockholm R User Group (SRUG) in cooperation with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL) and Rådet För Främjande av Kommunala Analyser (RKA) are going to host the next one-day R hackathon here in Stockholm - our third hackathon since this group started.

The main topic of this hackathon will cover School data that are freely available at Kolada ( http://www.kolada.se ) and SCB ( http://www.scb.se ). The aim is to provide analysis and create applications that try to answer common questions such as which municipality and/or school are best at providing good education?

At the event, optional lectures and workshops will be held to give some more information about available open data, creating simple apps with Shiny and some general introduction to R for those who are new to the R programming language.

UPDATE:

We have received generous funding from VINNOVA. The funding will pay for food during the hackathon and prices.

Prize for the winning hackathon team :

A two days trip to Gotland, including time to present the winning contribution at the conference Offentliga Rummet, June 1-2. Including one night’s hotel accommodation.
