The Stromboli Streghe are a group of women who meet to share writing and friendship. Begun in 1994, the group found its first home in a Bethesda restaurant called Stromboli’s. The members called themselves “streghe” -- Italian for witches -- because of the magic they create with words. So, the name Stromboli Streghe was born.
Currently, the group includes women writers working on personal essays, short stories, novels, memoirs and poetry. We meet every other Saturday in Bethesda to do writing exercises, share writing tips and review each other’s work. We are looking for writers committed to participating in the group by bringing in writing and offering constructive criticism of other members’ work. We ask that anyone interested please email a writing sample to the organizer. Samples should be three to six pages of any type of writing. We welcome you to email any questions you have about our group to help you decide if it is a good fit for you.
Its content is only available to members.
To learn more, contact the organizer directly, or you can go ahead and join the group.
