Come Together to Work on a Data Science Project

Details
This meetup is a group of people interested in Data Science that meet Monday evenings in Burlingame Library. We have a mix of people with statistics, programming, or other backgrounds. Some are working professionally in Data Science; many others are taking classes.
We're working on Kaggle competitions, in the spirit of learn-by-doing. It's a way to work on a real-world project that matters but is different from the day job. Plus we can get our names names on a world-wide leader board as being good at data science: we have a few folks that rank pretty high. Come to the meeting if you'd also like to compete, and want some ideas, motivation, or Q&A.
We have sub-groups working on the Facebook check in competition and the Groupo Bimbo inventory demand competition. We may also have enough folks to work on State Farm distracted driver. You don't have to work on any of these: if there's another project that has a 2+ people interested, please work on it. (We would like to avoid having single-person projects, since the benefit of coming to the meetup is the ability to bounce ideas off of other people working on the same project, but even someone on a single-person project can benefit from talking to others.)
If you are new to the meetup and want to learn more about the group, please show up with your laptop at 6:30 and we'll bring you up to speed. Before you come, Please create an account on Kaggle.com, look at the "active competitions" list to pick a project that you'd find interesting, and download the data onto your laptop. You should also have a data-science ready installation of R, or Python+Pandas, or equivalent. (RStudio or Anaconda3 recommended.)
Agenda:
6:30 New member introductions and coming up to speed on the project. (Skip this if you've been to a prior meetup.)
7:00 Work on Kaggle competitions
8:50 Meeting ends (Burlingame library closes at 9)
