Announcing a new Meetup for Suburban Chicago Vegetarian Meetup!

What: Vegan Bake Sale

When: Sunday, August 22,[masked]:30 AM

Where: Countryside Church Unitarian Universalist
1025 N Smith St 3 blocks south of Dundee RD. and Smith
Palatine, IL 60067
[masked] | Fax:[masked]

It's our second Vegan Bake Sale at Countryside Unitarian Church! For those of you who attended the bake sale in May, I'm sure you remember the amazing baked goods, and the HUGE crowd of hungry folks. While this bake sale is not during the "official" Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale dates, we're still donating half of the proceeds to an animal-related organization (the other half will be given to a charity of Countryside's choosing). This time, we're donating to Heartland Animal Shelter, the wonderful organization Melissa volunteers for.

The first sale was a great success, raising $270 in about an hour. This time, we'd love to do even better! If you would like to donate a baked good, you can drop it off by 10:45 am at Countryside, or arrange a drop-off at my house in Mundelein with me. Don't want to bake but want to enjoy the sweets? Come join us and purchase some yummy baked goods. Doors open for the sale at 11:30 (over by 12:30/1pm).

If you're not familiar with vegan baking, check your local library or bookstore to see what cookbooks they offer. Vegan baking does not include dairy (butter, milk, cream cheese, etc.), eggs, or honey. There are wonderful products out there such as Earth Balance, agave nectar, and Ener-G Egg Replacer you can use instead.

When you rsvp, please state whether you are baking, attending, etc. We'll also need a few volunteers to help man the tables. If you're baking something, you can put it on a platter with your name on the bottom and we'll get it back to you. We'll also bring a few platters you can use. Don't worry about pricing, we'll take care of that.

Hope to see you there!
