Humanists of Florida Association(HFA)
As you are aware, The Humanists Society of the Suncoast (HSS) is a co-sponsor of the conference to be held in Sarasota, Florida from April 30th – May 2nd, entitled Forging a Humanist and Secular Coalition: Taking the Next Steps. We would like to see as many members of HSS attending the conference and would encourage as many as possible to stay over for the Sunday sessions, when decisions will be made on how best to achieve the conference goals going forward. You may register online at:
In an effort to be more productive at the conference, HFA is endeavoring to get some feedback on the services that HFA presently offers to our Affiliate Organizations, such as HSS. At present, HFA offers assistance to our Affiliate Groups, primarily in the following areas (not listed in any order of importance):
1. Understanding and learning organizational best practices;
2. Retaining and recruiting members;
3. Using technology;
4. Gaining publicity;
5. Preparing presentations;
6. Formatting publications;
7. Addressing Humanist issues;
8. Organizational visioning;
9. Fundraising;
10. Identifying potential members;
11. Writing Grant Applications;
12. Developing program ideas;
13. Accessing DVD library;
14. Distributing email news
15. Planning conferences;
16. Strategic Planning
17. Locating a Humanist Celebrant for rites of passage ceremonies;
18. Limited Student Scholarships.
I should be most grateful if members could reply to me at with answers to the following questions:
Question A: List the above services in order of importance using the number associated with each service (e.g. 9, 11, 3, 16 etc., etc).
Question B: What other services would be helpful for HFA to offer to Affiliates? (list if necessary).
Question C: Would you like to see a 501.C(4), political action committee, organized at the state level?
Thank you for participating.
