THIS GROUP HAS DISBANDED.  NO NEW MEMBERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  IF YOU'RE INTERESTED, PLEASE SEE MY NEW MYSTERY GROUP "SCANDALOUS BOHEMIANS" AT:  http://www.meetup.com/Scandalous-Bohemians/

Meet kindred classic mystery lovers in a local Book Club!  Do you wonder "Who done it"? Do you use "the little grey cells"?  Or do you think "it's elementary"?

You do?  Then the obvious deduction is that you should join the Sundays Slay Me Mystery Book Club.

We meet on the second Sunday of each month.  Our primary activity is to discuss a classic murder mystery novel by renowned mystery authors, such as: Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy Sayers, Ellery Queen, Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Erle Stanley Gardner, Wilkie Collins, etc.  We read works written/set prior to and during the "Golden Age" of mysteries (the 1920s-40s).  We rarely read any contemporary works (unless the author is especially good at recreating a period setting).  For fun, we may occasionally throw in a scifi/mystery crossover or something particularly quirky.

Responsibility for leading our monthly discussions will be shared by our members on a rotating basis.

PLEASE NOTE:  Extra activities (such as parties and movie nights) are only open to established members whom we have met at our book discussions. New members are not eligible for the extra events until we have met them.  We require new members to attend a book discussion so we can meet them prior to inviting them to activities held in a member's home. The primary reason for this is security -- we cannot invite Internet strangers into our homes sight unseen.  Would you do that?  YOU know you're not an ax murderer, but WE don't!   ;-)

Second, please realize that the primary function of this group is a BOOK CLUB.  Anything else is just gravy.  It is a recurring problem that new members ignore the disclaimers on our additional activities and sign up anyway, even though we haven't met them and they don't yet fulfill the RSVP criteria.  If you are not willing to read the books and participate in discussions, then you are not eligible for the additional activities.
