WELCOME FELLOW SLEUTHS!
The Sundays Slay Me Classic Mystery Book Club was established in December, 2008, for the enjoyment of mystery aficionados in the North Carolina Triad and surrounding areas. Our members comprise a group of individuals with diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Come meet people with a variety of interests. Unsurprisingly, people attracted to our group often find like-minded souls with other interests which overlap.
You are cordially invited to participate in our monthly reading discussions. Feel free to jump in and share your own thoughts. All opinions are valid and interesting. Each month a different member will lead the book discussion. Our current reading list was chosen from a list of works authored by the esteemed Arthur Conan Doyle and other mystery literary giants of 19th and 20th century Britain and America. A new reading list will be prepared approximately each six months based on member consensus. Lists will be posted on the Message Board.
Our meetings are casual yet conducted with decorum. We will endeavor to conduct our discussions without pretension or high-handedness. We wish to enliven and enrich our literary purpose within a cozy atmosphere over a cup of tea. Whenever practicable, we will plan a more elaborate themed tea party, murder mystery dinner party, movie night, or game night (e.g. "Clue"). Members are encouraged to bring items related to the current book selection which members will find interesting (e.g., collector memorabilia, vintage books, photographs, etc.).
Occasionally, we plan additional events outside the scope of our reading selections. It is hoped that these events appeal to the interests of our members.
Hold onto your deerstalker and help us find out "whodunit."
Your Humble Hostess
Please read our General Rules and No Show Policy.
A Master Book List of classic mystery authors is found in the "Files" section [work-in-progress]. This is the list from which we choose our monthly reading selections. A six-month Reading List of current selections will be found on the Message Board and will be updated regularly. The first Reading List will be determined at our Introductory Meeting.
On the Message Board you will find a current list of films which have a mystery theme. Some films are adaptations of our book selections. [This is a work-in-progress.]
New members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the group by perusing past meetups, the Message Board, and the Mailing List Archive.
