Soulgraphy – A Sensuous Connection with Mysterious Images in Nature and Her Mysteries

Come and join in this Soulcrafted adventure out to the Olympic National Park on the Peninsula. The seeds of your Soul will awaken with Spring and to capture them through your camera, your art, your song, or your dance will open the windows into the deepest parts of your every being.

Yes the snow-capped Olympic Mountains are visible from Seattle but to take the trek across the Puget Sound and into the Olympic Peninsula of 3,600 square miles is a wild adventure even today! Sometimes even beyond a descriptive area. Even today no roads traverse the interior, which remains the native habitat of elk, bear, and mossy old-growth forests, protected by the Olympic National Park and the rugged, saw-toothed peaks of the Olympic Range.

We will be embarking in this Soulcraft journey even in the drizzle. We will embrace and take advantage of the glistening forests where water bends the reflected light coming off an objects surface. The water spirits reflect the light in various directions and intensities and enhances the already magic effect of the deep green lush mossy rainforests that we will be experiencing. We will visit the sub-alpine forests, meadows, temperate rainforests along with the rugged seacoasts of the peninsula and the park.

What is Soulgraphy? It’s my own creative word given to me by Spirit. It’s a Souls journey to photograph or to view with your eyes the Soul of Nature, to sing to the Soul of Nature as it imprints its beauty on your heart, to pray and have light ceremony with the Soul Spirits of Nature as they fill you with their blessings. Yes Soulgraphy!

Ooooh and on the western side of the Olympic National Park is the Hoa Rain Forest where we will see wood nymphs, moss-draped pines, usnea stringing from branch to branch draping them so hallowedly, hemlocks and spruces of the rainforest provide breathtaking images.

The beach access is a short hike from our cars and we will commune with sea stacks, tide pools and rock shorelines that are common to the coast. We will explore areas from Kalaloch to the south to Rialto Beach, First Beach to Second Beach to the north.

The Soulgraphy will take place right here in Nature at Her best! There is no need to take notes yet, a journal, blank paper with colored pencils or paints may delight your creative delights. BRING YOUR CAMERA TOO! Each morning and night we will, as a group, come in circle to share our Soulgrahpy images in informal open hearted listening. We will see you with open eyes and recognize the beauty of your individual radiant Soul. No there is no sitting in classrooms we will be out THERE, in Nature where the Soul speaks to us more clearly and light ceremony will be shared. When the Soul opens and begins to embrace you fully it speaks and flows with the Soul of Nature which is powerful and direct. You will see symbols, rich images, because these are what we are also made of. These images are only for the Soulcrafted seeker because they are open and ready to see the arcanum of the Mystery.

Your Soul desires to capture the Soulgrapy moments within these Sacred Lands. In doing so, it’s like an underworld journey where you descend into an unfathomably deep sheer canon wall – a Soul Canyon per sae, consisting of layer upon layer of rock bands. The deeper we go, the more useful and transforming the experience. The more mystifying the Soulgraphy images, the more profound and encompassing the meaning will be for you.

When you have encounters like Soulgraphy, the more mysterious the images, you will live with them in beautiful ways for weeks, months, for years (maybe even lifetimes!) and each visit will give you more understanding. To live with these Soul images means to say YES to them, to draw them, paint them, puzzle with them, converse with friends about them, to draw them in, create ceremonies around them, sing them, compose poetry from them and for them. And most of all, it means that you have come to a new place with the Sensuous Connection with Mysterious Images in Nature and Her Mysteries.

This is what a healthy cultural life is like: Sacred reciprocity with the Soul of Nature, with the wild!

Places we will visit:

· Sol Duc Falls: Old Growth Forest, subalpine lakes and the best embodiment of the rainforest – Sol Duc Falls. (Time providing on the return)

· Lake Crescent: The shores of the lake are beautiful, magnificent, offering vistas across the lake to the adjacent mountains.

· Rialto beach and La Push, a primitive beach area and the coastal town holding the Quileute Indian Reservation. Views of sea stacks, and the famous 2nd beach, where the driftwood, rock formations and tidal areas allow for outstanding Soulgraphy!

· The Hoh Rain Forest. Driving, hiking, sitting to meditate where moss covered Sitka spruce and western hemlock reach heights of up to 300 feet thriving on an average of 150+ inches of rain per year. The Hoh is like Tolkien’s middle earth, a supernatural world of Nature Spirits, and fantastic shapes forming the most mystical of beings. Often sunlight pierces the damp air, causing steam to rise on soggy forest floor. The moss provides breathtaking Soulgraphy images, only found in the rain forest of the primeval Hoa. Lush beds of ferns, mosses and flowering plants are at times everywhere. Keep an eye out for the Roosevelt Elk because they live there too!

· Time providing we will visit the Quinault Rain Forest, Klaloch and the nearby Ruby Beach.
