A social network of people helping one another learn to live more simply and sustainably. We have lost so many skills over the last generations, and there are so many new ones to learn as the world moves towards new forms of energy and away from consumerism, we need people to lean on, to show each other the way. I hope this group can become a place to turn when a member needs help on a project or needs someone to show them how to do something green, or just to discuss how others live sustainably.
Building, timber-framing, landscaping and creating green spaces, green roofs, traditional living skills (canning, pre-oil machinery, etc), reducing energy usage, new forms of energy, saving money through simple living and down-shifting, peak-oil issues, bushcraft and outdoorsmanship.
Volunteering to build innovative and green buildings and to landscape. Getting together to garden or plant, hikes, walks, canoe trips to get out and enjoy nature. Field trips to farms, businesses, and markets to learn about what is available and to traditional living museums to learn about sustainable ways of living. Picnics and cook-outs!

I'm a traditional woodworker educated in computers and genetics. I'm interested in sustainable agriculture and timber-framing and all things local, green, and traditionally smart. I'm interested in homesteading someday and living simply.
