Come learn some new skills, or share what you know!!

The Sustainable Skills Society is a member-to-member skill-sharing collaboration.

We are committed to living a simpler, more sustainable way of life which is more connected to our community and invested in the resilience of its members. Through a focus on a healthy balance of self-sufficiency and local reliance we imagine a more sustainable existence, at peace with each other, and in harmony with our environment.

Our mission is to inspire each other and empower our communities to enrich each others’ lives through the sharing of new skills and knowledge. We share a vision of enriching the lives of those in our neighborhoods through sharing, education, community involvement, and leading by example.

Let's help each other learn to live a more meaningful, joyous, healthy, environmentally sustainable, and socially just life. Let's be lifelong learners dedicated to lessening our passively consumptive ways, and working together to reclaim our lives by taking pleasure in simplicity, and shifting to a lifestyle of active participation filled with connection, community, and meaning.

"Life should be enjoyable; too often we think it’s about achievement. The truth is that making life enjoyable is an achievement in itself.” -Unknown

What we do: Organize and promote free or affordable workshops and skill shares on everything related to urban/suburban homesteading, simple lifestyles, self-sufficiency, local reliance, community service, stewardship, and leading healthy, socially and environmentally responsible lives.

Topics are only limited by our imaginations, and could include some of the following: Urban farming, composting, livestock, fiber arts, primitive skills, foraging/ wild edibles, food preservation, cooking, herbal arts, thrift/free stuff, DIY, natural home-made cleaning supplies and beauty products, bike repair, guerilla gardening, pot lucks, film screenings, book talks, outings and educational field trips, seed swaps, co-ops, intentional communities, clothing exchanges, treasure trades, etc!

Don't be shy!  Everyone is somewhere along the path to sustainability and some of us are just beginning... this is a non-judgemental and supportive place to learn and explore.  Sign up to come to a workshop, post one you know about, or organize one for the group!!!
