"Implementing and running a Private Container Service with Rancher", by Chris Fordham, Cloud Platform Architect, Industrie IT & Adam Wilmore, Senior DevOps Engineer, IAG

Docker’s growing popularity has given rise to a plethora of hosted container services such as Amazon’s ECS and Google’s GKE. And it’s hard not to embrace the idea of providing a self-service vehicle for developers, Test/QA engineers, and SRE’s to spin up and down containerized environments. The talk will focus on building a private container service using Rancher. Specifically:

  • What a private container service is
  • How to build, rollout, and maintain a private container service on-prem
  • How software-defined infrastructure services make container networking and storage seamless, whether containers are deployed locally on bare metal or via vSphere, to private clouds, or to public clouds.

Bio: Chris Fordham is a Cloud Platform Architect at Industrie IT. He has a strong focus on open source software and cloud management. As well as Docker, Chris likes to play with Rancher, RightScale and Chef.

Adam Wilmore is a Senior DevOps Engineer at IAG. Automation Engineer, builder of cloud platforms, adopter of emerging technology
