Retrospective Experiences and Techniques Fishbowl

As per your votes at our July meetup, our August meetup will be all about Retrospectives.

There is a strict capacity limit for this meetup that is lower than for our last meetup so please only RSVP Yes if you are actually committed to coming.

--- Session Outline ---

In this session we will hear from many other participants about specific retrospective experiences and techniques. In return for hearing about dozens of ideas from Sydney's Scrum community, we expect that you'll jump in and share your own experiences and techniques too. No spectators!

To kick it off, we'll hear from participants from the RBA about their recent experiences with Walking Retrospectives.

--- Walking retrospectives ---

Walking retrospectives help to get discussion flowing in an alternative environment.

Get outside the office and go for a walk. Naturally, as walking pace varies, team members fall into groups.

Encourage discussion on the last sprint.

What went really well? How can we do more of it?

What didn’t go so well? Why? What can we do different? What’s involved? What are our obstacles?

--- About the Fishbowl format ---

To facilitate the discussion of this and other retrospective techniques, we will use a Fishbowl group conversation format.

This involves having a few chairs in the middle of the room (within the Fishbowl) and everyone else listening in (from outside of the Fishbowl). Those inside the Fishbowl can engage actively in the conversation. When someone outside of the Fishbowl wishes to join the conversation, just step towards the Fishbowl and one of those in the Fishbowl will switch out to make a place for you. If the conversation appears to be slowing down, our facilitator will throw in some fish food!
