Demand for web developers has skyrocketed to unprecedented levels. If you are looking to switch careers and become a full-time web programmer, join us for this free event to discuss learning how to code, the various career paths available, and what companies look for.

We will also cover your opportunities to learn with General Assembly and how to be involved in the Apprentice Program which offers you a paid position alongside support and mentoring within a development team for a 12 week period.

Stick around afterwards for Happy Hour and talk tech with industry experts and GA staff and alumni.

6:30pm Arrival

6:45pm A Day in the life of a web developer - a senior developer will cover what their day-to-day schedule looks like, what skills they rely heavily on and what the industry looks like for web developers.

7:00pm Opportunities within web development - what the job market looks like for web developers, from Junior to Mid-Level and Senior and the languages and frameworks that are in the highest demand.

7:15pm Becoming a Web Developer - a General Assembly student's guide to breaking into the industry and what they learnt along the way

7:30pm Happy Hour and Talking Tech with guest and GA

Executive Recruitment Professional and WDI Sydney Graduate

Tarun has extensive experience as an executive recruiter for global companies in the UK and Australia. He has often been the 'intrapreneur' in a workplace, developing and launching innovative new products within an organisation.

A recent graduate of WDI Sydney, he is now building his own company, creating exciting new products for the Asia-Pacific region.

Founder, Lookahead Search

Steve is a technical recruiter who came from a technical background. He is the founder of Lookahead Search - lookahead.com.au - and spends his days hiring Ruby on Rails, Javascript, iOS and Android developers.

Before recruiting, Steve ran a web development and technology consultancy with a few good friends and studied a Bachelor of Science in IT at UTS.

He thinks lunch is the most important meal of the day.
