Discuss Testing with Scott Barber

Scott Barber is coming to our shores in November and has agreed to speak to the Sydney Testers Meetup.

Here's some blurb on Scott, but really it doesn't do this guy justice. He's a passionate, articulate speaker with some great insights on testing. He's also a super good friend.

Scott Barber, Chief Technologist of PerfTestPlus is viewed by many as the world’s most prominent thought-leader in the area of software system performance testing and as a respected leader in the advancement of the understanding and practice of testing software systems in general.

You can find all files uploaded to the meetup under "More" -> "Files" in the menu bar under the Sydney Testers banner heading.

I reserve my judgement on the quality of the interface design :)

It was great, a lot of test-y goodness packed into a very energetic hour+.

Absolutely nailed it. So much content, so much energy. And yet, a considered response to questions and comments. Thanks for coming to Meetup and sharing your slides. Im sure by the time you visit next, we will have 40 more top notch load testers in this city!

One of the most pragmatic presentations I've been to recently. Yes, one can always read up on the technical "stuff" that you need to know regarding performance testing. Scott touched upon some real life problems and potential solutions in his own style of course.

    Thanks Scott!!

Slides uploaded in the Files section above (.pdf format because all those graphics were *huge* - if you attended, you are welcome to the .ppt version, but you'll have to email me & tell me how you'd like all 13.6Mb of it delivered.)

Ok, so I'm biased when it comes to content, but to any testers traveling to Sydney... link up with these folks... *totally* worth spending an evening with!!!

Disappointed. A 100 slide powerpoint presentation meant that he just ended up flipping through many of them. A good presentation could have been achieved with just 10 slides.
The irony was that he quoted E Tufte but didn't notice that his presentation was pretty much an example of what ET was criticising.
The first half of the presentation had nothing specific to say about performance testing. It could have been called consulting 101 and problem solving 101. I didn't come for that.
Once we came to more performance testing specific stuff he started flipping through the slides ....
Scott is an entertaining speaker but he wasn't an educating one on the night.

While I understand that there was a venue clash for the 6 November, Monday 5 November causes me problems. It is my last lecture for semester, which I can't miss (doing PostGrad). :( - I would really love to turn up to the event. - Could it be a different day? Like the Wednesday 7th? :)

Hi TenguTech, as co-organiser who helped to secure the location of this Meetup, I tried to get the same day and time, but simply could not get any room or location. Unfortunately, the only time and day that Scott and a room is available is Monday 5 November. We do apologise for the disappointment this has caused you and we hope to see you again at future Meetups. Rich.
