Meet with people who have an online business, work online - in any context - from solo, through small or medium entrepreneurial businesses to the media, marketing, IT and corporate/financial sectors. Swap ideas, resources, shortcuts, recession-busting strategies, marketing tools & tactics; and get valuable introductions to other professionals. Plus get away from your screen once a month at least, in a less formal format than a seminar or networking event, with better follow-through potential. - We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, changing topics and formats to offer something for everyone. We're dipping heavily into business development, traffic generation & marketing in this economic climate, but socialising & networking are up there on everyone's agenda. - The main monthly night is always mainstream and business-oriented. We adjust topics monthly to deliver what members want most - please drop over to the Polls tab to tell us: takes 2 minutes as you join. The main comments and feedback have been along the lines of "I met some very smart cool people", "I had a really good time" and "people are doing some seriously interesting things". So be there, or people can't talk about you like that once you've gone home. We’re starting now on a series of break-out smaller meetings on specific areas. - In July we have a US company presenting on their July Australian launch; and roll-out in 3rd and 4th quarter '09. - I’m talking to 2-3 other groups about linking up for several special events, panel discussions, workshops and cross-promotion. - Sessions on tools, tactics, webmaster know-how, free resources are coming up. - We have two top online marketers/network marketing pro’s in the group who will be running a session late winter. - In addition to showcasing and sharing our members’ expertise, we’ll also be hosting guest speakers and workshop facilitators. The Meet-up infrastructure enables good communication via message board, file uploads, polls, postings, group and private emails. So let us all know what you do, post up events, opportunities, resources, freelance contracts, jobs, requests for ideas or a contact... put people in touch. - But please don't join to start posting ads on yourself, unrelated stuff or rival groups, or network marketing opportunities . That isn't what this particular group is about. It’s mostly geared to people someway down the track in their area or niche. But if you’re starting from scratch, come and absorb like a sponge. I've got a long background in communications, corporate/financial PR, marketing, journalism/media. Which morphed into over 7 years of primarily full-time online. I've been lucky enough to live/work in five countries - consulting & corporate, media, a co-founder of an US/international start-up; two publishers/social networks - B2B and lifestyle media. So share that experience here and volunteered to run the group because it's filling a niche in a city with so many online people. I didn't actually expect to be having some real fun with it and for us to grow as fast every month as we are!
