Symfony PHP NYC - MVC web application framework Message Board › Come work with me! Symfony/Rails engineer needed at Freeverse Inc.
|A former member||
This job isn't necessarily Symfony focussed but I want it to be! I am looking for a strong PHP/Rails developer hopefully with Symfony experience to come in and help me take an existing game platform to the next level by refactoring it's procedural codebase into something much more elegant. It doesn't have to be Symfony but I strongly suggest it. Anyway you would be working alongside myself and other very talented game engineers on some of todays hottest iphone titles. Very high traffic realtime multiplayer games in a variety of genres/technologies (We also do a lot with Ruby/Rails, Erlang, Hadoop, Redis, MongoDB etc). The company (now owned be DeNA) is very large but our team is left a lone and is very small, fun and tight knit. You would really be hard pressed to find a better work environment.
Here is the job description:

Our developed and published titles have been honored with six Apple Design Awards and over 5 million paid sales from the iTunes App Store. We are seeking talented individuals who will participate and contribute to our growth, and who will enjoy our fun and dynamic environment.

Very proficient with MySQL replication, and implications of different architectures (InnoDB/MyISAM/NDB).
Very proficient with package management systems including APT, Ports, Yum and RPM, and be able to compile from source.
Deep understanding of how to scale realtime data access to millions of users - load balancing, reverse proxies, failover, and so forth.

- Config management systems, such as Chef.
- Alternate web servers, such as NGINX, Lighttpd and Cherokee.
- Monitoring packages, such as Monit and Nagios.
