Our 2nd annual HOLIDAY PARTY at MJ'S Bar with vocalist/pianist LORI DONATO

Last year Jono hosted a holiday viewing party at his home (and still may host a small one on a weeknight before Xmas), but since his house space is limited, wanted to give the opportunity for more of our members to attend and co-mingle. So this year we are going to celebrate the Christmas and Hanukkah with a live holiday-themed cabaret party mix-in at MJ's Bar--a neighborhood gay bar in the Silverlake district of Los Angeles. [Note: MJ's is "straight-friendly" and on its more laid-back Sunday cabaret afternoons attracts a diverse cross section of patrons for Lori's regular live piano gatherings (some you may recognize from music and television), so you do not need to be gay to attend this group outing or feel out of place].

Please bring ONE UNWRAPPED TOY for an underprivileged child with you on Sunday afternoon at MJ's. As with prior years, we are collecting holiday toys for the Hollywood-Sunset Free Clinic who in turn will distribute them to underprivileged familes.

And if any of you are singers, you are welcome to bring your sheet music with you (in the key you wish to sing in) to perform any classic movie holiday-themed (or other song) that you wish to perform. She has quite a cabaret following and her "afternoon cabaret jams" attract many professional and semi-professional singers--so you definitely will be very entertained.

The afternoon will include performances of holiday favorites including songs from famous Christmas movies such as "White Christmas" from the movie HOLIDAY INN, "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" from MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, etc.

The festivities start at 4pm and run through 8pm. You can order holiday themed cocktails or your favorite non-alcoholic beverage. (Jono is looking into whether our members can bring potluck-style food or order food in from a nearby restaurant and will update everyone as this on that as the calendar date approaches).

LORI DONATO is an L.A. cabaret legend and has serenaded audiences all over the Southland (and beyond). In the former days of L.A. Gay piano bars (the last one named The Other Side sadly closed just one year ago), Lori also headlined at a number of them including the Oasis, The Other Side and others. PARKING: MJ's has a very small parking lot behind the bar that fills up immediately. Please DO NOT PARK IN ANY OF THE NEARBY TRADER JOE'S PARKING LOTS unless you want to risk your car being towed. There is also street parking on adjacent streets, but do be prepared to walk a half block to the bar.
