Transition Initiative Portland (TIP) Meetup Group 5.00 5.003

Meet other people who are interested in learning about the twin challenges of Peak Oil and Climate Change, and how they can be effectively and positively addressed in your community by the Transition Town concept.

While this meetup will provide information on awareness raising and sanctioned training events happening in Portland, anyone from any community is welcome!

The Transition Town concept is unusual in that it is based on permaculture principles; and is bottom up and adaptive, rather than top down and prescriptive. It recognizes our need to envision a positive future, and enables us to act on that vision by unleashing our collective genius.

There are now 15 official Transition Initiatives in the US, including Montpelier VT and Portland ME. A good local news article on the Sandpoint, ID Initiative can be found at:

A brief video of Rob Hopkins’ (founder of Transition Towns) presentation
to the International Forum on Globalization can be viewed at:

What members are saying

It's a great way to get involved in a positive way to help our community address the most significant problems facing the globe.

Our goal is to provide a framework for creating even more connections between those already working toward a resilient Greater Portland Area. ...
