Hackerspace meetup
Hackerspaces have been popping up all over the world in the last few years. At last count, there were 16 spaces across Florida, but none in Tally. Let's start one. Hackerspace members include artists, engineers, designers, brewers, cooks, students and teachers, old folk and young, people who have a project and need a place to do it. It’s a shared workspace for people working on projects that are bigger than they have room for at home or which used tools that might best be shared. Samples of tools shared at other spaces around the world include industrial sewing machines, 3D printers, laser cutters and more.
Here’s what Wikipedia says about hackerspaces:
A hackerspace or hackspace (also referred to as a hacklab, makerspace or creative space) is a location where people with common interests, often in computers, technology, science, or digital or electronic art (but also in many other realms) can meet, socialise and/orcollaborate. Hackerspaces can be viewed as open community labs incorporating elements of machine shops, workshops and/or studios where hackers can come together to share resources and knowledge to build and make things.
Tallahassee is a good excellent candidate for a hackerspace. We know how to do co-ops here. There are a lot of smart talented people hanging around. All it takes are some interested folks with a little energy to make this happen. Are you in?
I'd like to call a meetup soon, but haven't come up with a place. Ideas?
