The Vegetable Gardener’s Guide to Permaculture- Free
Join us on Tuesday, July 16th at 6:30pm at San Diego City College as Christopher Shein will present on his book, The Vegetable Gardener’s Guide to Permaculture. The event will feature as an amazing slideshow followed by a book signing. Books will be available for sale as well.
In his newly published book, The Vegetable Gardener’s Guide to Permaculture, Christopher Shein captures the essence of Permaculture while sharing techniques on how to transition from a simple vegetable garden to an edible ecosystem in our own backyards.
Once a fringe topic, permaculture is moving to the mainstream as gardeners who are ready to take their organic gardening to the next level are discovering the wisdom of a simple system that emphasizes the idea that by taking care of the earth, the earth takes care of you.
The Vegetable Gardeners Guide to Permaculture is an inspiring, easy-to-follow, information packed guide that will help readers transform their home & community gardens into productive food forests that will feed them for years to come.
Permaculture is an ancient, but cutting edge technology, that employs design strategies that work with nature instead of relying on back breaking work, fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. The permaculture gardener uses methods that build healthy soil, smothers weeds, and promotes plant life, while recycling waste products from the garden.
Christopher Shein has started dozens of community, school, and market gardens. He teaches permaculture at Merritt Community College where he helped develop an award-winning student farm. Christopher attended UC Santa Cruz where he was introduced to the Alan Chadwick Agroecology Farm and Garden. Christopher was one of the key members who launched BASIL (Bay Area Seed Interchange Library). Shein owns Wildheart Gardens, a permaculture landscape business that designs and builds sustainable gardens. Merritt Community College is one of the first community colleges in the nation to offer a certificate in Permaculture.
