Willett Hot Springs--Ojai, California

Details
20 miles out and back This will be an all day hike. Please sign up only if you know you can hike for 20 miles. Destination:
Willet Hot Springs.
The Piedra Blanca Trailhead, where this
hike starts, is in the Sespe Wilderness, off of Highway 33 out
of Ojai. Hike Type: Out and Back 20 miles RT I'm going to say this is a strenuous hike for distance-not elevation gain. The hike is 10 miles to the Willet Hot Springs, where
there is a large tub, with both hot and cold water hoses, so
that one can change the temperature. The trail is very good
and goes up the ridges and down. It is not very steep, but 10
miles in and 10 miles out will take all day.
There are 3 stream crossings.
so one should have water shoes to change into for the
crossing.
What to Bring:Snacks, 3 litres of water at a minimum, water shoes, hat, sunblock, sunglasses, bathing suit or quick dry shorts.
We need an Adventure pass for parking. You can get them at most sporting goods stores. I always get mine at Sports Chalet in West Hills. $5 for one time only or $34 for an annual pass.
Directions: "From the 101, the Ventura Freeway, take the 33, the Ojai
Freeway, to Ojai.
The 150 from Santa Barbara joins the 33, but
just past the Ojai Valley Inn, the 150 goes to Ojai, but you
will go left on the 33. It is 21 miles when you turn left to
the trailhead. You go past Matilija Dam, Wheeler Gorge and
turn right (the only way to turn) onto the Rose Valley Rd. Go
past the Ojai Valley Gun Club, to the Pierda Blanca
Trailhead. Do not go to the Rose Valley or Middle Lion
campground. The trailhead has good parking, but you need a
Adventure Pass, or you will get a ticket. The first stream
crossing is close to the trail head and I will probably just
wear my water shoes to the first crossing The trail goes east
to the Willet Hot Spring and follows the Sespe. At about the
middle of the hike, at Bear Creek, there are some good places to take a dip!
