Great first hike for the New Year-- a challenging one with a fun group!

If the group keeps a steady pace, we should be done around 3pm at the latest.

This is a great hike on trails and fire roads in mountainous terrain with spectacular ocean and valley views.

Our 14 mile hike begins at the Backbone Trailhead on Malibu Canyon and proceeds along the southern rim of Malibu Creek State Park.

See trail route:

This is definitely an intermediate/advanced hike due to mileage and elevation gain of about 2600 ft.

Bring at least 3 liters of water, food, camera.
