If you want to make a robot move forward 48 inches, +/- 2", do you need a PID controller?
We have an FRC robot with separate left and right drive motors. We're going to experiment with trying to make it move forward 48", +/- 2", without a PID controller. Each motor (left and right) has it's own quadrature encoder on it, so we can determine where we are, and when to shut off the motors.
This meeting will not be concerned with the direction that the robot is pointing at the end of the drive. That will be examined in a future meeting.
