August Meetup: NEW Satellite Location - Pasco County

Happy August! For those who saw the Big Announcements posted by Alison on the Message Board a few weeks back, this is the follow-up to the NEXT WordPress Meetup event.

Announcing our 1st Tampa Bay WordPress Meet up Satellite Location in Pasco County (New Port Richey).

As a new member of the SMARTstart Pasco Incubator, we now have a permanent location to host Meetups on a regularly scheduled basis. It is our intention to provide this, in ADDITION to other events that will be scheduled throughout the Tampa Bay Area, to support the Tampa Bay WordPress Meetups Group. In discussing this option with Alison Foxall, the Group Organizer for TBWPM, we know that many Tampa members are pretty spread out among the 3 main counties of the Tamp Bay we decided adding a satellite facility would provide some other options for meetings. With that, let’s talk about what we have in store for our Tampa Bay WordPress Meetup members. About our NEW Venue.
Pasco County is now home to TWO new Startup Incubator locations. One in New Port Richey and the other in Dade City.
SMARTstart Pasco Incubator Facility located off Main Street in New Port Richey, has been kind enough to donate their space for our Meetup events. They're located at: 6345 Grand Blvd. New Port Richey, FL (On Circle Blvd. Across from Orange Lake and Sims Park).

Right now we are going to set future meetups for the 3rd Wednesday of the month with our inaugural event taking place on Wednesday August 13, 2014. (7 – 9 PM).
(Yes this First one is the 2nd Week of August due to another local event taking place on the 20th that many want to attend. Going forward the 3rd Wednesday of every Month.)
In order to make these events more productive to those who want to attend, I want to encourage those who have topics they want to know more about to let us know - what you want to hear?

We also want to encourage speakers to participate. We know we have a lot of talent in the community and really would like to share it. So if you have expertise in WordPress, as either a designer, developer, plugins or a user with a passion...let’s connect and see how we can share this with our Meetup community.

For this first event, I would like to schedule a discussion around the upcoming release of WordPress 4.0. As of my writing it's been in Beta 2 Release for a few weeks and I am optimistic that it will be released by the time of our meetup....If you have been a contributor to WordPress Core or have been using the Beta please let me know. If I don't hear from anyone, I will put together a presentation to get the ball rolling.

We have an awesome facility...with large electric roll-down screen, projector, tables and ample seating and Wifi….so if you’re presenting…all you need to bring is your laptop.
Let’s make this a collaborative event that helps anyone who wants to know more about WordPress....from Beginning to Advanced we want to be able to provide a little something for everyone.
Even if you’re not using WordPress....but want to know more about’re welcome, too.... you just have to become a member of the Tampa Bay WordPress Meetup Community. As the facility just opened up the end of June, we have some limits on capacity for the first few events.....we will have future capacity to hold meetups up to 80 in a large Media Room with a stage and large screen for speakers.... (Stay tuned future updates on this.)

Please note that for this venue, we have a strict attendee limit of 35. If you're planning on attending, RSVP soon, because this one may fill up fast.

Also, if you later find out that you can't make it, please cancel your RSVP to open it up to somebody on the wait list.
Food and drink will be sponsored for this Meetup by the SMARTstart Incubator Businesses currently in residence: Savealator (Greg Smith), Brilliant Factory (Ann & Jeff), SMBsocial (Tom Townsend) (If you’d like to speak, please contact us.)

(We're also seeking out sponsors/swag providers for future meetups. Let us know if you're interested.)

Hope to see you there!

One more matter to clarify: In recent discussions with Tony Leary, he has decided to NOT run a separate group. (Unless he has recently changed his mind?) So, for those who are in the WordPress SEO Tampa Meetup group, I am also inviting you to this 1st Pasco Location meet-up. If any of you want to volunteer to speak on SEO specific items in the future, let me know and we will be sure to get them in the schedule.

Any online Hangouts or conectmeeting sessions ??

We anticipate starting with video of the session...and then posting to WordPress TV the next day. Right now HOA's for larger venues have not proven very effective. Audio issues etc. They are great for small sessions for a few people in small room... however, we may look into Live Streaming in the future...something we will definately be doing for WordCamp

True story. I don't see a need to have a separate meetup when WordPress and SEO pretty much go hand-in-hand.

    Looking forward to it, Tom.
