Greetings to members new and old. I hope no one minds, but I saw the email that the group was going to shut down, and I didn't want that to happen, so here I am. The dogs have fun with each other, and it's fun to watch them play. None of us want that to end.
I would appreciate feedback from anyone that attended the Palm Harbor event, and please let me know if you know of an event coming up that may interest members of the group. I saw in the paper on Sunday that there was a winterfest for Doxies in Southbeach recently, but I didn't hear about it before. Maybe we can get info on these events before in case anyone is interested. Since there was no meetup at the Tampa park this month, I am thinking about adding one on Sunday at either 10 or 11 am, but I want to get a feel for how many people can make Sunday. I know Saturday is usually the day of choice, but that only gives 3 days notice.
In unrelated news, The Dachshund is #8 on the list of the top 10 best loved dogs, although they will always be #s 1-10 on our list. The top 5 were featured on the Today show this morning. You can see the top 10 at www.todayshow.com. If I remember the story correctly from this morning, the list is determined by ownership numbers, possibly from the AKC. For the 19th year in a row, the Labrador Retriever is #1 on the list. The poodle holds the record for #1 with 22 years.
Meet fellow Dachshunds and Dachshund Lovers near you! Longhair, Smooth or Wirehair miniature or full-sized, all breeds of Dachshunds are welcome! Meetups aren't limited to dachshunds only. So if you have other dogs of different breeds under 30 lbs., feel free to bring them along! Our meetups are a great opportunity to meet new people and to allow your dachshunds to play and socialize with other dachshunds. It's great exercise for the dogs, and a lot of fun for the dogs as well as their humans!
