We need you to advertise your affiliation with a 912 or Tea Party group

This means wearing something like a ball cap or tee-shirt that shows that you with the 912 movement or the Tea party movement. The intention is not let the member of congress or their staffer-droids to pass you on the street or in a hallway and not know that you are here as part of the march on Washington.

It is important to make it impossible for a member of congress—or their staff—to see you without knowing who you are because your presence is the message. They know that it requires substantial outrage for a citizen to travel across the country just to declare the full extent of their opposition to what they are up to. Put another way, if they pass you on the street and they do not know you are with then you have wasted part of the time and expense you have invested in coming to Washington.

Workshops and training will be available on Thursday and Friday

A number of organizations will be providing workshops and training seminars on Thursday and Friday of the week of 9/12. you can find a list of these workshops and seminars at https://912dc.org site clicking the “agenda” tab located at the top of the webpage.

If you will be in Washington D.C. on Thursday or Friday and to attend some of these workshops then you can register for these sessions by visiting https://912dc.org website and clicking the “agenda” tab. These seminars are content-rich sessions designed to provide you with the intellectual foundation to help you articulate the Traditional American free-market principles underlying our movement when you explaining your viewpoint to your congressman or his staff.

A particularly noteworthy seminar is Intellectual Ammunition Strategy Session that hosted by the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Ayn Rand Center. The objective of this session is to enable attendees to argue coherently and consistently for positive goals.

Do not feel pressured to have to do the Seminars, should you feel short on time, they are all excellent, only $10. If you are unable to attend, Tom Gaitens can conduct Activist and Leadership Training back in the Tampa area, FREE to groups of 30 or more.

And, that said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with paying to attend one of these paid seminars. It is your call.

Attempt to schedule a visit with your member of congress.

As a comment, consider attending one of these seminars before meeting with your member of congress so that you will be better prepared.

Also remember, your member of congress—either in the Senate or the House—is your representative. It is their obligation to make themselves reasonably available to their constituents. Now they might not be available for various plausible reasons but if they are not available then their staff is an acceptable surrogate.

Most of the congressmen have a staff member who is their expert on healthcare issues. Attempt to obtain an appointment this person. If that fails try to obtain an appointment with the Chief of staff, the "Legislative Affair's Coordinator” or even the congressman himself.

Attempt to visit in a group of ten people or so. A small group is more likely to get an appointment than an individual.

Wear your 912 or Tea Party tee-shirt when you visit their office. You want the hallways to be filled with folks in our tea-shirts.

Make the appointment ASAP. If you wait too long then the schedules may be filled up you will simply be denied access to your member of congress due to schedule conflict.

Make sure that you create a signed letter to hand your member of congress. It gives you something to hand them. If you cannot get an appointment the at least you can drop by the member of congress's office and hand the letter to the the staff. Don't forget to sign the visitor's book!

On Friday, all day long, The FL Tea Party Patriots will have a conference room available at the Capitol Hill Hyatt. All Floridians are welcome to drop by. Meet each other and to socialize. You will be free to make signs there but you will have to bring your own materials.

It might be difficult to get a sign onto the plane due to its awkward size and shape. You can ship your sign in in a disassembled state to the Capitol Hill Hyatt. You can assemble your sign after you arrive in Washington D.C.

The March's details.

The March's course is about one mile. There are two stages where we will have speakers. There will be one stage at the March's start point and another stage at the March's endpoint. The March's startpoint is at Freedom Plaza. The March's endpoint is the capitol.

If anybody is unable to walk the March's one mile distance then I recommend that they simply assemble at the stage located at the March's endpoint.

There will be two FL state flags at the stage. When you arrive at Freedom plaza please assemble at the FL flags. This will be at the Right of the Stage. Assembling at the right of the stage will place you in the correct place to lead the March.

We request that you arrive in Freedom Plaza no later than 8:30 AM. Earlier will be prudent. The Freedom Works site already has 32,000 RSVPs and this does not count the RSVPs from all of the 912 groups and the Tea Party groups. Consequently it will be better if you arrive a bit early.

Florida and two other states will head up the march.

There will be a press conference after the march. Marchers can be present for the press conference.

Getting to the March: The plan

In our view there is two stages to the March

1.Getting everybody to March on time, and
2.The March itself

We've covered the march. The following covers the logistics of getting everybody to the event on time.

Step 1: Form into groups by lodging

We want everybody to be grouped by lodging. The idea is that each group will be comprised of those staying at a given hotel. On Saturday morning everybody will meet in their hotel's lobby, assemble into a group, and depart as a group and proceed to Freedom Plaza. The idea is to get everybody there on time.

Step 2: The group select their group captain

The group captain will be the one who will be the primary organizer of the group.

Step 3: Group Captain's checklist of tasks

task 1: Determine the route from your hotel to the freedom Plaza

Google maps can calculate walking time. Use Google maps to determine travel time. Use this travel time, and fact that we need you to arrive before 8:30AM, to determine when your group must depart from the hotel.

task 2: Determine the time required to walk from your hotel to Freedom Plaza

Task 3: Ask the Hotel's concierge to provide a placard to advertise your group

You can expect that there will be many Marchers from other states that will be staying in your hotel. We want to make them aware of your group and that you will be leading your group to Freedom Plaza.

Ask the concierge to erect a placard on a tripod near the front desk. This placard should explain that your group will be assembling in the lobby. Make sure you specify your group's departure time.

Task 4: Create a sign inviting other marchers to assemble with you in the lobby

Somebody needs to be holding this sign in the hotel lobby on Saturday morning. The intent is to enable marchers from other states to notice your group and join it.

Exchange cell phone numbers.

Members of your group need to be able to find each other

Consider organizing a call tree.

Consider forming a network tree of folks who will relay a message out to the group. This is the only practical way to send a message to everybody quickly once the number of people in the group exceeds a certain size.
