The only one I know of is Bean There, a Coffee Shop in South Tampa on Bay-to-Bay, I sang there in 1998 and 1999 - so I don't know if the establishment is still there or not.
Emily Matarazzo - I have no photo, and sang in Showtime at the Apollo and competed as one of 13 contestants - it was held at the Colliseum in St Petersburg - they have great accoustics there! Will I fit in or is this more for poetry and comedy?
Well, first of all, I was awed by the crowd and the type of people in there who were very conservative, laid back and every bit my age and didn't feel intimidated by the type of music I performed for them! They were all, and I mean all, very friendly and receiving, not to mention polite to me. Yes, I was nervous and knew I could do a lot better, however, I had no idea what I was going to perform and they were very polite as I stumbled through all the songs I knew and did my best on and polite enough to "suffer" through the type of music I did without being to impatient, especially when I'm sure some of the music I did they never heard of or could relate! I preferred the "Motown" type music and did my darnest to sing exactly like all the black ladies in those days. After all, look at Teena Marie, she was white and made it into the black R&B and Pop fields and thought nothing of it!
