Re: [TampaSWEEP] Need 18xx player(s) for this Saturday Oct 9th in Tampa

More info:

18xx is a series of stockmarket/train games which started with 1830 by francis tresham. The idea is to earn the most money. You do that by buying stock in train companies and hope that the ones you pick pay the most money. If you own the most shares of a company then you are the president of that company. The president runs the company during the operating rounds. Running a company includes laying track, running trains, paying dividends, buying trains, etc.?

Good introduction on BoardGames with Scott video:

I do this on a Saturday because these games take a while to play. BGG lists 1830 and 1856 each at 5 hours. However, you are involved quite a bit in every aspect and there is little down time. Also, being good at basic math skills helps too... similar to the math you need in Power Grid... although there is division/multiplication?too... but all done is 10% steps so very easy to do. Frankly I let one of the guys that is ?coming do the bank, he is very fast at it. ;)

Hi all... I am hosting a FtF 18xx game day at may place (Nortdale area which is just north of Carrollwood) this Saturday. We have 3 players lined up, including myself. So we would like at least 1 more. Probably game will be 1830 or 1856 which each play up to 6. Newbees welcome, this is only my 2 FtF game of 18xx.

(Sorry, new to meet-ups, not sure if I should do a meeting idea, mail list message or forum post).
